It's fun to capture multiple objects in one shot. Here are the Trifid and Lagoon Nebulas (and M21 peaking through the top left corner) that I photographed on July 5th, 2024.
The Trifid and Lagoon Nebulas (M20 and M08) - July 05, 2024
I used my Z61 telescope with the ASI 533 camera and the L-Pro filter for this shot. I initially tried using the L-Extreme filter, but it didn't capture the blue in the Trifid Nebula. I'm happy with the results from the L-Pro and would recommend it over the L-Extreme for one-shot color cameras.
The L-Pro filter doesn't overwhelm the image with red like the UHC and L-Extreme filters do and it preserves the stars' cool white color. A more affordable alternative that gives similar, though slightly muted, results is the Moon and Skyglow filter by Optolong. I like this filter a lot; it works surprisingly well on nebulae, even revealing details like the Horsehead in Orion, and it only costs about $40!
